Willium Drake165 viewsWillium serves as demon hunter and part-time council member for the town of Headside, Coin Island. He possesses a magical set of playing cards, which have been handed down from father to son for generations of Drakes. His relationship with Nim, the demon hunter for the town on the other side of the island, ranges from rivalry to romance. Sometimes the line between the two blurs.Sep 04, 2008

The Nuns213 viewsThe nuns are a collection of young women of all species and nationalities, ranging from infants to elders, who have come to Hidden Island seeking sanctuary. In addition to being a holy retreat, the abbey is a school and a library, and it has attracted knowledge seekers and scholars from across the world. The girls who come to the abbey are orphans with a desire to learn, the daughters of wealthy noblemen, or unwed, pregnant mothers. The abbey does not discriminate against a person because of their past, but accepts women from all walks of life and situations. Some women stay for a few months, some their entire lives. There are only a few boys in the abbey, mostly babies whose mothers aren’t ready to leave the abbey yet. Occasionally a deliveryman will arrive with supplies, but for the most part, it is a Females Only establishment.Sep 04, 2008

The Great Raven231 viewsThousands of years ago, when The Archipelago was a giant, magic-enhanced machine, (no living person remembers its purpose,) it was controlled by six Artificial Intelligences, each of which had a specific job. One of these was called The Raven, and this program was designed to protect the machine from viruses. After the machine was destroyed and submerged in the ocean, the magic that controlled it broke loose and began to have strange affects upon the dead robot, as well as the AI that controlled it. The Raven is a creature made of pure magical energy, rogue artificial intelligence, and a vaguely remembered mission to destroy any foreign element that attempts to harm the machine. Put simply, it considers anything organic to be a virus.
Long ago, when The Raven first became sentient, he was a rational being. When the magic first started working on the Artificial Intelligences, allowing them to escape from their mechanical shell, the other five programs went off to explore the new world that was slowly growing on the machine. The Raven alone stayed behind, feeling it was his duty to stay at his post and protect the robot. There, deep in the Archipelago, the magic continued to work on him, and without the other intelligences to keep him sane, The Raven began to go mad.
Thousands of years later The Raven finally left the deep caverns inside the Archipelago. While the other intelligences had been learning more about life, emotion, and human thought, Raven could only feel resentment, loneliness, and hate. He could only see how grotesque and hideously different life was from the comforting metal he had lived in for so long. He promptly set out to destroy the life that had invaded his home, using the considerable amount of magic at his disposal. He found that by taking a piece of his intelligence, he could place it in a living creature’s mind and control them, bringing out their corruption and manipulating it to his purpose. His ravens, as he called them, were intelligent, but they were only half-souls, not capable of free will, emotion, or even a sense of self. He made hundreds of the so-called ravens, and he had an army of brainwashed slaves by the time anyone stepped up to oppose him. It was at this time that a man named Dragonfly, along with six powerful magic users, fought against and imprisoned him with a magical spell. In using it, the spell tied itself so intricately into the bodies of the magic users, that to this day their descendents carry a memory of the spell, and the power to undo it. Raven is counting on using the heirs to this magical spell to release him. While imprisoned, his power is contained, but he still has the ravens, and he is slowly building his army. If he is freed, he will be even more powerful than before, and it is unlikely the same spell used to imprison him could work a second time.Sep 04, 2008

The Royal Guard308 viewsChosen at birth from families that have been serving the Magistan line for generations, you will find no five people more dedicated to their job, or loyal to their king. From the official ceremony at age 2 where they are bonded to the prince (or princess if a prince is not born) they are trained as warriors, caretakers, and friends of the heir. Prince Paollo shares a family-like camaraderie with his guards, a group as mismatched and clumsy as himself. One should not underestimate the royal guards. They will do anything, even give up their own lives, for the sake of the Prince. No other person can take a guard’s place if they die, and most guards happily die in the service of their king. It is rumored that, through an ancient magical pact between the first Magistan and his guards, it is impossible for a king to die as long as there is at least one guard left to stand by him.
From oldest to youngest, Paollo’s five guards are:
Tatami: The leader of the royal guards, Tatami is the most dedicated to the Prince, and also the closest. He follows strict routines, in his training, and day-to-day life. He trains fiercely in armed and un-armed combat. He is like a big brother to Paollo, but a bit of an outsider among the guards. Though the others respect him and will follow his orders without question, it is hard to follow what goes on in his strategic mind.
Vamuro: The most educated and intelligent of the guards, Vamuro acts as translator, medic, and falconry expert. Even as a child, it was clear he was the weakest of the five, being rather scrawny and a bit asthmatic. He has always struggled to counterbalance his physical weaknesses with a strong intellect, and is admired among the guards, and the other inhabitants of the palace for his genius. He is the negotiator of the group, and is very good at it (unless Zatachi is in the same room.) Vamuro has a huge crush on Tusura.
Zatachi: The only non-human of the guards, he is half-Ryuan, a race of lizard-like people that breathe fire. The self-proclaimed prankster of the group, Zatachi’s third favorite hobby is making a spectacle of himself. His second favorite hobby is flirting with Tusura, and his most favorite hobby of all is competing with Vamuro (the first and second hobbies are often one and the same.)
Gozazi: The most overlooked of the guards, Gozazi is friendly, artistic, and soft spoken. He is not shy exactly, but he much prefers listening to others than talking. The most heavily built of the guards, he is an expert in wrestling and hand to hand combat, and even though he dislikes fighting, he isn’t afraid to throw his weight around when the Prince is in danger. Like Vamuro and Zatachi, he also has affection for Tusura, but unlike the other guards, he is the only one who is genuinely in love with her. Unfortunately, his shy attempts at getting her attention are usually overshadowed by Zatachi and Vamuro’s attempts to outdo each other.
Tusura: Tusura’s hands are kept full between acting as sister to Paollo, training in long-range weaponry, practicing magic, and keeping the boys in line. She is practical and no-nonsense, and finds Vamuro and Zatachi’s constant competition over her to be more annoying than anything else. She is the youngest of the guard, and being female, she works hard to prove she is just as competent as any of the male guards.Sep 04, 2008
